Sulitjelma, a town high up in the mountains above the arctic circle, had enormous mineral resources. In 1887 a swedish company gained the right to produce copper which was needed all over the world. The next 104 years SULIS, as the locals called the place, became one of the most legendary places regarding fights over rights for workers in Scandinavia. The workers were treated like slaves and the company owned the whole society with their own police, their own currency and their own laws. Soon the workers named the place "The hell of Lappland"
